Suzanne “Sue” Birch has spent her career working in education. She is the former head of the lower school at Laguna Blanca School, where she was also a teacher for many years.

Prior positions include Supervisor of Student Teachers at the University of California, Santa Barbara; Educational Instructional Specialist for IBM; and Computer Instructor for the Santa Barbara County Teacher Training Program. She earned her undergraduate degree from The State University of New York and a master’s degree from The Ohio State University.

Mrs. Birch has served on the boards of Laguna Blanca School, Marymount of Santa Barbara, All Saints Parish School, the Nonprofit Support Center, Opera Santa Barbara, Storyteller Children’s Center, Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute and Ridley-Tree Cancer Center.

As a life-long educator, I am passionate about ensuring every high performing K-12 student in our community has a path to reach their goals.
